Question: I have currently taken Lovenox for one month and Coumadin for the past two months. I have been told I could be taken off Coumadin and return to work. the results of my ultrasound below state that I have "residual chronic thrombus" still in my calf... Question: Should I stop Coumadin? What . . .

Answer: Chronic thrombus is old clot that scars to the wall. You should speak to whoever is prescribing the coumadin as to when you can come off of it. Nearly all medical doctors take care of these types of problems and should be able to help answer any questions you might have. Take care!

Severe edema in both legs

Question: My Mom is 80 years of age and has edema of both legs most of her life. However as of late this condition has worsened and is causing her some distress. She has been treated with medications to decrease fluid retention but it is not working. She has been given a clean bill of health for both her hear . . .

Answer: I would recommend starting off with an ACE wrap beginning at the foot and wrapping to the knee. After 24 hours of compression, you should be able to restart the compression stockings. A visit to her physician and a possible venous ultrasound and look at her venous valves in the legs may also help. T . . .

Tingling in my legs

Question: I`m 64, female, non smoker and have tingleing sensation in both of my legs from the thigh down. I notice this when I`m sitting down. I also have RLS, which I take a prescription drug before going to bed, which has not helped all that much. I exercise frequently and walk about 2 miles a day. What do . . .

Answer: This does not sound vascular in nature. I would recommend discussing with your primary care physician. Take care!

VNUS procedure - again?

Question: I had the VNUS procedure done a few years ago. My legs are in worse shape today. Why? What should I do next? Legs are painful 24/7.

Answer: Valves can get weak in other veins over the years. I would make an appointment to see the physician who did the VNUS. Good luck!
